About Pasture Path
Farm software for people who would rather be outside: a map of your land, with the rest of the farm kept on it.
What it is
Pasture Path is a web app for running a small or mid-size farm or ranch. You draw your fields and paddocks on satellite imagery; it measures them, and then keeps what happens on each one — the grazing rotation, the field work, the harvests — attached to the place it happened. If you sell from the farm gate, it will take orders for pickup too.
Who it is for
Mixed farms, market gardens, graziers and small ranches: places where one or two people do the farming and the paperwork, and where a market garden, a beef herd and a flock of hens on the same quarter is perfectly normal. It was designed for farms in Western Canada first — acres and hectares, legal land descriptions, Canadian dollars — and works anywhere.
How it is run
- Your records are yours. Everything you enter can be downloaded as spreadsheets and map files, whenever you like.
- Private unless you sell. Nothing about a farm is public until its owner lists a product for sale.
- Stored in Canada. Farm records are kept on servers in Montréal.
- No money handled. Customers pay farms directly; there is no commission and nothing to reconcile.
- Plain about limits. Each page on this site has a section on what the feature does not do.
Where it stands
Pasture Path is new and in early access, which is why it is free. It will get things wrong; when it does, say so — the people who use it first shape what it becomes.
Who makes it
Pasture Path is made and run by Crossthread, a small software business registered in Alberta, Canada. Reach us at hello@pasturepath.com.
